Lorenzo M. Ruiz (June 21, 1966 - October 3, 1993) was a U.S. Army Ranger who served in Somalia. He was one of 19 American soldiers killed during the Battle of Mogadishu. Ruiz's role as a Rifleman part of the initial assault convoy, was shot in the chest while on the Lost Convoy. Although, Ruiz survived initialy, he was listed in critical condition. After several hours, he along with Delta Force MSG Tim "Griz" Martin, were flown out of Mogadishu to U.S. Army field hospital in Germany. Tragically, both men passed away of their wounds while en-route.
